Dollar Cost Averaging Explained
The term “Dollar Cost Averaging” was first tossed out there by a guy named Benjamin Graham, back in 1949.
Old Ben wrote a treatise on investing after the great depression called The Intelligent Investor.
I’ve had a few copies of this book but lose it every time I move.
Reminds me to order another copy.
This is Warren Buffett’s top 5 books of all time as well.
The term is simple, but a lot of people don't understand it.
It’s the concept of buying a stock at regular intervals over a long period of time.
Markets will go up and down.
And buying regularly has you buying at the high, and more importantly, buying at the lows.
This will average your investment toward the middle.
In lieu of buying all shares as a single time investment.
The former, averages your investment much lower than the later single time investment.
Simple.
Here’s how to set that up:
